We designed and developed this award winning product range ourselves, and we can custom make a shade to fit most situations. Our mission is to “Enhance customers’ lives by creating magic outdoor spaces, allowing Kiwis to enjoy their outside living all year long.” From the beginning our emphasis has been on innovation rather than replication, and our range of awnings and canopies now encompasses our unique “outdoor room” concept, as well as several other unique styles.

Fresco was established in 1998. We are proudly NZ owned, and have been providing cover for homes, schools and businesses for many years.

Our Values
Our values are based on going the extra mile, and we can often provide a custom made solution where our competitors can’t. Our team includes designers and engineers, as well as some very agile installers! At Fresco Shades we make our own sturdy steel frames and components, and powder coat all metal in our own powder coating facility. We also have a showroom and a deck with various canopy options so that customers can experience the product and ‘try out’ the various types of curtains.
Great Range
Our range of cafe curtains/side screens can be used to enclose the canopy as soon as the weather changes (every 10 minutes in Auckland!). Alongside the manual zip and roll curtains, we have our new Glidetrak system, which is very easy and effortless.
Top Quality
We take quality seriously, and use only the best architectural grade PVC fabric from France & Japan for the waterproof roofs of our canopies. Our clear PVC for side screens/curtains comes from Japan, and is a very high grade quality for maximum longevity.

We aim to provide an excellent product and great customer service. We get a real buzz out of seeing the difference our shades make to people’s lives.

Scott Minhinnick
Sales Consultant
Scott enjoys meeting people and discussing ways to make the most of outdoor spaces no matter the season. He loves his job because every day he gets to work with a fun and creative team. “At Fresco the product is fantastic and I am impressed by the passion of our staff and how we are committed to finding new ways to be innovative, either with products, design or overcoming a challenging site. Catherine Fletcher
Sales Consultant
Catherine has a varied background in business management, mostly in the landscaping, horticulture and fencing industries and has also spent some time in the not for profit sector. Catherine loves meeting people with service being paramount to her along with providing quality, user friendly, value enhancing solutions. That’s why Catherine loves working at Fresco! In her spare time she spends time with family and friends, works around her lifestyle property and get lots of pleasure from music and caring for her animals.
Oliver Cummins
Sales Consultant
Oliver enjoys meeting customers and talking through design solutions. After joining Fresco in 2015, he quickly gained a solid understanding of Fresco products, and enjoys creating the best value solution for his customers. Oliver also has a keen interest in all things computers, enjoys boating and loves a good game of paintball.
Jackie King
Sales Consultant
Jackie brings a wealth of experience in customer service, including interior design and real estate. She enjoys listening to her customers, and working out which design will work best for them to fit their lifestyle and to suit the house. Her flair for design and great communication skills mean customers are well looked after all the way through the sales process. In her spare time, Jackie enjoys Pilates, walking the dog and relaxing at the beach.
Ravin Sharma
Design & Production Manager
Ravin has been with Fresco Shades since 1998 and has been involved in all aspects of the product. Ravin designs our canopies and oversees production and installation. He is a keen DIYer, and often finds innovative solutions to tricky problems.
Megan Cummins
Managing Director
Megan joined Fresco in 2009, and brings extensive knowledge in management, marketing and advertising. Her current role is Manager, and she runs Fresco’s marketing among other roles.
Megan loves working with such a great team at Fresco, and is constantly amazed at the creativity and problem solving skills that enable the team to tackle some challenging projects – which often win awards. It makes her day to hear from customers that their outdoor room has changed their lifestyle and offered so much more than they expected. Megan is a past president of our industry group OFPANZ (Outdoor Fabric Products Association of NZ). It makes her day to hear from customers who say their outdoor room has changed their lives and offered much more than they expected. Megan is a past president of our industry group (OFPANZ) and remains on the executive committee.
Richard Cummins
Founder / CEO
Richard is the CEO and founder of Fresco Shades. He is passionate about the difference a canopy can make to people’s lives, and it makes his day to see the excitement from customers over their new canopies. Richard thrives on challenges, and constantly seeks to improve the range of products Fresco offers. In his spare time, Richard loves boating, diving and fishing off his jetski.
